Manya Chappell, PhD, is an educator with strong convictions about the ability of students to excel. Her undergraduate and Master’s degrees are in elementary education while her PhD is in curriculum and instruction. She has fourteen years of K-8 teaching experience and over ten years as an elementary school administrator, district curriculum coordinator, and university level teacher program instructor. Dr. Chappell uses explicit instructional strategies with students who need foundational reading skills. She also uses argumentative strategies to increase student comprehension of informational texts. She is passionate about removing any barriers for students who struggle with reading because reading is a bridge to literacy in all content areas. Reading is a key that opens doors.
