Tammy Pointer currently serves as a kindergarten teacher for the Tupelo Public School District, located in Tupelo, MS. Tammy has been an educator for the past 14 years and she couldn’t imagine herself in any other profession. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Mississippi State University and a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Arkansas State University. Additionally, Tammy is LETRS trained and is currently completing her dyslexia certification from Scottish Rite Hospital. Throughout her career, Tammy has had extensive experience working with students who are learning to read, and students who need reading interventions. Educating young minds, and preparing students for success is her passion. She truly believes the famous Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. quote, “Intelligence plus character– that is the goal of true education.” Tammy is excited to bring her unique skill set and love for teaching the foundations of reading to the Literacy Tree family.
